Morganton, NC (March 27, 2011) - After three hours of intense action, the FMF Steele Creek GNCC was decided in the final turn. And it couldn't have been a crazier finish.

With spectators crowding the barriers to get a better view, Charlie Mullins led Josh Strang into the final stretch of winding trail that led to the finish. As the two riders got closer to the checkered flag the intensity picked up, with Strang showing Mullins a wheel at every turn. Mullins guarded his lines and held Strang at bay, looking clearly to have his second win of the season in the bag. That is until the final turn when the FMF/KTM rider fell down. At that point a stunned Strang cruised across the finish line to take his first win of the year. The win was the FMF/Makita Suzuki rider's third straight at Steele Creek and it gave him the series points lead to boot. To top things off, Strang also won the $250 Motosport.com Holeshot Award to start the race.

"I got pretty lucky there when Charlie went down," said Strang. "It was unfortunate for him but I'll take the win for sure. I went down myself on the last lap so I had to ride hard to catch him. When I caught him I had to try to get by him as quick as I could because we were close to the finish. I tried to go inside him in a corner and after that I was ready to settle for second, but then he went down. I was shocked and a little bit relieved."

AMA H&H Round 4: Payette, Idaho - SIDI takes First and Third -

AMA H&H - Round 4

Overall Results:
1st Kurt Caselli (SIDI!)
2nd Jacob Argubright
3rd Destry Abbott (SIDI!)
4th David Pearson
5th Robert Underwood

Overall Summary:
It was definitely one of the best times I've had racing in a while, but I was a little disappointed with my third. I really felt like my speed was good even though I knew it was going to come down to the end with the four of us. I just tried to put myself in the right place, but messed that up after the alternate pit. I'm still happy to get another podium and I'm the only rider to be on the podium at all the races so far. Hopefully the consistency will pay off in the end (which is my main goal).

Race Day:
I wasn't worried about my start, because it was pretty wet here and it was going to be easy to key off other riders. We weren't able to ride the start so I walked it once and called it good. I had a good jump, and by the time we got to the end of the bomb I was in third behind Kurt and David. The first loop was around 42-miles and it was one of the best times I've had racing in a while. There were four of us (Kurt, David, Jacob, and myself) that pretty much stayed within 10-seconds of each other the whole time. It was almost like a good fast trail ride. You could key off the guy in front of you so easy that it was better to not be leading. I wasn't worried about trying to take the lead since I was having fun where I was at. Kurt and I would be giving each other thumbs up while he was running 2nd and I was in 3rd. Then I would look back and Jacob would be right on me so I would give him a thumbs up too. It was really cool!

After the first 40-mile loop was over, all four of us were pitting at the same time and then were back off for the final 62-mile loop. David was still leading a little ways into this loop, and I could tell the pace was starting to pick up. We were riding up this road into the mountains and were going through patches of snow. The puddles were like ice in spots and you really had to ride smart. I actually had a few close calls, but still kept it on two wheels.

Then we started working our way down this cool single track stuff and that's when I saw Kurt take a big soil sample. He hit a rock and went flying over the bars. I slowed down to make sure he was good and he said he was, so it was now on to David. As we got to the bottom, I decided this was my time to try to take the lead and see if I could put a gap on everyone. I got around David and really pushed it. I actually built up a good 10-second lead so no one could key off me (which was actually a lot at this race).

I lead for about 15-miles and then I came into a check where the guy that was marking my card must've not liked me. I stopped and he wouldn't mark my card. I'm like mark my card, but he wouldn't! Then the other guy yelled mark his card, but he still wouldn't so he ended up jumping over and marking it for me. As you can imagine I wasn't too happy since David was on me as soon as I left the check.

Not far after that we made a sharp turn on a road, and both David and Jacob went to the inside and both passed me. I got a little dusted out so I slowed down and as soon as I did Kurt went by. Within a mile I was leading and then went back to fourth. I just followed them into the alternate gas where they did a great job getting me out fast. For some reason as soon as I left, I turned into a Spode and forgot how to ride. I had a few close calls and just really messed up a few sections.

About 5-miles later the top three guys were gone and I would say the leader had about a minute on me. I could see them way up there, on the faster sections, but it was so hard to make up time without keying off someone. There was about 25-miles left and it turned into a full sprint for me. I was pushing it really hard and was slowly closing in. Then I saw David and he looked off the pace (I later heard he took a big soil sample) and was able to get around him. I was definitely closing in and now could see Jacob was leading with Kurt right on him. By the time I got close enough, I knew we had to be close to the finish since there were so many spectators around. When we got to the finish I was about 15 or so seconds behind Jacob and 25-seconds behind Kurt; who was able to get around Jacob right towards the end. The race took a little over 3-hours and it was definitely a great race to determine your fitness

Other Notes:
I owe a huge thanks to the Argubright's for taking my bike up to the race and helping us out. It saved us a 16-hour drive!

The club did a great job on promoting the race and putting a great autograph session together at a local Ford dealership. A ton of people showed up, so it was pretty awesome.

Not to many clubs put together a pro purse and that was way cool since times are a lot tougher for all of us. The race course was really good to, even though they had to change a few things with all the rain and snow.

It was so much fun riding with Kurt, Jacob, and David. We all kept it clean and I knew neither one of us were going to take each other out. That was definitely a race I'll remember, since you don't get to do that in too many desert races. Any one of us could've won that race, but Kurt played it out the best. It actually reminded me of road biking. You would try and break away, but then the pack would just reel you back in. It was all about setting yourself up for the end of the race.

On Friday night David Kamo had a lot of people over to his house for some dinner. Kit made some awesome food and even hooked us up with some cookies (which were so good). We had a blast and I even won the 50 wheelie championship, so I get to run the #1 plate there next year!

My next race is this weekend for the WORCS series in Lake Havasu, Arizona.

I attached some photos from Megan Blackburn (Offroad-Journal). Thanks Megan!

Best Wishes,

SIDI Sponsored Bobbitt Takes First in Cajun Classic Enduro

SIDI Sponsored Bobbitt Takes First in Cajun Classic Enduro

Forest Hill, LA, March 20, 2011 - Russell Bobbitt came out on top of a tight, three-way battle to grab win number two on the year at the Cajun Classic National Enduro, the second round of the Rekluse/AMA National Enduro Series in Forest Hill, Louisiana.

Bobbitt trailed FMF/KTM teammate Charlie Mullin after two tests of the five-test, 85-mile event. Meanwhile, Cory Buttrick, also an FMF/KTM rider, kept the front-running duo honest by staying with a few seconds for the duration of the race.

Mullins, the defending series champ, went into the final section with a chance to steal the overall, sitting just one second behind Bobbitt in elapsed time. However, the North Carolina rider crashed hard in the fastest portion of the test, allowing Bobbitt to cruise home with the victory by a 24-second margin.

With eight rounds to go, Bobbitt holds a 20-point lead in the series standings, 60 to 40, over Mullins and Bakken, who are tied for the runner-up spot. Buttrick is fourth at 39 points, with Lafferty rounding out the top five at 35.

The Rekluse/AMA National Enduro Series returns to action on April 3, in Kalgary, Texas for round three of the 10-round schedule.

Race Report: GNCC Round 2 - Paul Whibley

SIDI takes a 1st and 2nd Finish
1st: Paul Whibley (SIDI!)
2nd: Josh Strang (SIDI!)
3rd: Thad Duvall

Race Report: GNCC Round 2
Rider: Paul Whibley
Team: AmPro Yamaha
Bike: Yamaha YZ450 F
Result: 1st
Round 1 of the GNCC series didn’t go to plan but we made up for it at the second round in Georgia. A top 10 start wasn’t too bad with a couple of early passes I was in contact of the lead bunch. The track was rough and soft in the trees with a lot of lines fanning out through the wet sections. These provided plenty of opportunities for passing and allowed some great racing with the lead changing constantly and a bunch of riders all wanting a piece of the pie.

Midway through the 3 hour event the battle was still raging with hole shotter Nate Kanney, Suzukis’ Josh Strang, round 1 winner Charlie Mullins, KTMs’ Cory Buttrick, myself and my team mate Thad Duvall still duking it out for the lead. With about three laps to go Josh and Thad began to open up a small lead. I was behind Nate Kanney in 4th and quickly needed to get by him to bridge that gap to remain in contact with the lead. As we came out across an open field I out braked Nate going back into the woods and chased down Thad and Josh. With two laps to go I moved into the lead and tried to open my own gap. Going into the last lap I think I had almost 15 seconds over Josh but he was pushing hard and was not going to hand it to me. I continued to keep the pace on and maintain the lead. Mid last lap a branch nearly ended my run for the win, smashing me in the face and nearly cleaning me off the bike. It broke off my Smith roll-off canister and half tore the lense out of the frame.

Lucky the Smith goggles are quality equipment and I was able to carry on although I was struggling to see out my left eye with it swelling fast. I made it to the line with a small buffer over Josh to claim my first win of the season.

Whibley Wins Georgia GNCC: SIDI with a 1-2 Finish

Washington, GA (March 13, 2011) - Paul Whibley returned to top of the podium after taking a solid win at the Maxxis General GNCC in Washington, Georgia, round two of the 2011 Can-Am Grand National Cross Series.

"This certainly puts me in the hunt," said Whibley. "This is a good way to come back out and at least I know I'm on pace with these guys. I feel good, the bike is good and everything went well."

With two laps to go, Whibley made his move for the lead, taking the position from DuVall. A lap later, DuVall stalled his bike, letting Strang go by, and the top three positions were set.

Whibley took the win a good 20 seconds ahead of Strang, with DuVall getting the checkers another nine seconds back.

"We were passing back and forth for most of the race," said Whibley. "Strang upped the pace late in the race and I had to pick it up too. I was able to get the lead at the two-second board and I just rode a steady race after that."
