Crash Tested: AGV Sport Laguna 1 Piece Suit - We Walk Away Unhurt

The crash was a front end tuck at approximately 70 mph. Our tester slid on his right side for roughly 100 feet on pavement before tumbling into the gravel trap. The suit fared quite well in this get off. As we’d mentioned in the review, top grain leather wears through if you slide on it long enough. This was the case with the Laguna. Our long slide opened a tiny hole in the leather at the spot of maximum damage, no bigger than the diameter of a pencil.

AGV Sport’s incredible system of sewing seams, which we’d described as bordering on overkill, proved its worth. Although they took major abrasion, not one seam showed even the slightest sign of pulling apart. The AGV Sport logos on the thigh and forearm of the suit, attached with simple stitching since they are merely cosmetic, were utterly destroyed and ripped almost completely off the leather beneath them. This damage is a sobering testimony to the punishment of the slide and the strength of the actual suit beneath. The titanium shoulder slider on that side of the suit took some road rash but protected the leather around it completely.
